The protective membrane is reapplied over the gray and black water tanks.
The axles are positioned under the frame.
2 pm
The last parts arrive (finally!)
and are attached to the straightened and reinforced frame.
3 pm
The axles are jacked up and braced in position, then bolted into place.
4 pm
Jason, Rich (the shop manager, in orange
and Charlie attach the new tires.
Duane will reattach the fender skirts later)
Packed up, paid up, thank you's said, time to go.
Up the street and around the corner (about 1 mile total) we were settled in for the night in the Redwood Empire Fair & Event Center RV Park.
Many thanks to Larry (on the hill where we first broke down) who put us in contact with Daniel Steel and Machine, All In One Towing who shored us up and helped us limp safely into town.
Lots of thanks to the crew at Daniel Steel: Bill, the owner, for allowing us to use the electricity and water and the office restroom; Rich, the shop manager, for taking time on his way home to stop where we were broken down to assure us that they could fix us, and that we would be safely parked until the work was done; Jennifer, the office manager, who kept our spirits up with her cheerful attitude; Rich (again) who ordered parts and helped Charlie and Jason to get our rig back together as quickly as possible.
We meet the nicest people in our travels!
Louise and Duane
