To celebrate his 74th birthday today, Duane decided that nothing was going to keep him indoors. We took off south on US 101
to hike Elk Meadow area of Redwoods National Forest. We accessed this trail from Davison Road.
Our first hike was through aa wonderful old growth area of Coastal Redwoods and thousands of ferns.
Along the way we admired tiny Trillium Falls.
I wondered how many people had climbed this dead tree "ramp". Duane admitted that he was tempted.
The trail wound its way up and down 200' in elevation before ending back at the split in the path (third picture above).
Next time, we go further along Davison Road.
