Nevada Tahoe

Smoke from California wildfires finally caught up to us here in Dayton, NV.  As Brock, Leola, and we rode the bikes through Carson City, the particulate haze was thick.

As we rode south out of town, however, the air cleared, and we were able to enjoy our mountain ride

to and through Tahoe Nevada State Park.

Our goal was to find a few nice views of the north and east Nevada shore Lake Tahoe from the road and lakeside.
Unfortunately we found the lake covered in smoke haze.

We found one spot that offered a panoramic view.  The dim sunshine made the areas look different --darker but clearer nearest the sun,

lighter less distinct farther away.  Unfortunately the only accesses to the shoreline were fee areas.

We could always tell when we were outside the park boundaries.  Large private houses fronted by fences prevented any glimpse of the lake.

Just for fun we took another route home, climbing 1000'

to 7384' at Dagget Summit,

loving the eye-popping Aspen autumn colors all the way,

then snaking down a 9% grade to Carson Valley.

The lower we rode the clearer the valley became

until everything was clear again.

Time's up.  Moving day on Friday.
