Straight and flat was the ride for all but a couple of miles of our 100 mile trip. NV 372 took us out of Pahrump, through the Pahrump Valley and across the border to California, where it became CA 178
There were only a couple of miles of wide sweeping curves
winding up and through the Nopah Range.
At the junction with CA 128 we turned left following the Amargosa River corridor along country roads
to China Ranch Road, the most fun part of the trip.
This unpaved road went down a sharp grade led us one mile
through a slot canyon
and into an oasis at the end of the canyon.
Here we stopped at our turnaround point, the China Ranch Date Farm. We parked in a shady spot and walked to the Gift Shop/Shake Bar. While we waited for our date shakes to be prepared, we perused the gift shop. I bought date cookies and date bread so fresh that it was still hot.
We learned about the history of the farm and quite a bit about dates.
When the shakes were ready we enjoyed them with our picnic lunch.
After looking around the area and reading info boards, we hopped the bikes and retraced our route home.
Only a few curves, but still a nice afternoon ride.
