Some things we learned about the date farm and the Amargosa River system at the China Ranch yesterday.
We read about these trails but didn't take any walks yesterday.
From work camping in an oasis Duane and I work camped in an oasis a few years ago, we learned that these desert oases occur when sideways fault lines slide sideways and disrupt the flow of underground rivers. The rivers either form oasis pools or flow on top of the earth until they sink down into their underground beds again.
The oases in the nature preserve where we worked had Desert Pupfish in them too.
We have driven along parts of the Old Spanish Trail in many of our travels.
The easiest way to learn history and geography.
