New State, New Time

Moving day was simple, seamless and uneventful--just the way we like it.

From Red Canyon RV Park, UT we drove scenic CR 143 around and through the mountains,

then picked up I20 for 15 straight miles

before picking up CR129  for 168 miles through drier and drier desert.

This road was kind of monotonous, broken only by a few herds of cattle, an isolated ranch or two

and occasional 600' elevation rises through mountain passes

and one bicyclist.

We entered Nevada and the Pacific time zone  then drove another 30 miles

to our home for the next week--Whispering Elms Motel and RV Park in Baker, NV.
Baker consists of little more than the rv park and a few houses.  The park offers about 15 sites, most of them pull-thrus and all of them 30 amp.  There are two buildings in the park--the showers/laundry

and the motel.

The graveled sites are spacious with trees offering some shade

We arrived at noon, unaware that check-in time was 2pm.  We found a shady spot, turned on the generator and ate lunch while we waited, then realized that we had changed time zones, and had arrived at 11.  O well.  We're here at this rv park because it is only 11 miles from Great Basin National Park, our next place to explore on our summer trip.

Hoping the heat won't stop us from hiking,\

Louise and Duane
