Here are a few more things we learned about Fort Flagler and Fort Worden State Parks (see previous blog).
Even though these and other forts in the area are no longer militarily active, the US Navy maintains an active presence here behind this fence.
Both state parks offer camping, hiking trails, and vacation rental houses
and Fort Worden offers 2 miles of white sand beaches. (The water is brrr!)
At Fort Worden we also found deer habituated to humans. This little one trotted right up to its mother, scooted between her front feet and chowed down.
as we rumbled by on the bikes mom took no notice while baby watched curiously.
Close by another mother was resting with two babies.
