If--Then Part2

If we hadn't enjoyed a previous visit to Capulin Volcano National Monument (New Mexico) then we wouldn't have been prompted to return for another strenuous hike.

If we hadn't taken this hike then we would have missed some wonderful views

and some lava formations such as this collapsed lava tube.

If Duane hadn't teased me about bears hiding in the bushes, then I wouldn't have thought that this was one.

Unfortunately, it was worse than a bear--it was that Creepy Guy!!

If we hadn't hiked slowly and quietly

then we would have missed this deer.  (Look on the left)

Here's a closeup.

If we hadn't taken the time to look around and stop to take photos,  then we would have missed this heard of deer on our way out of the Monument.

If we hadn't taken a wrong turn in Folsom, then we wouldn't have been able to enjoy this deer herd.

If we had decided not to return by the way we came this morning, then we wouldn't have enjoyed our ride home nearly as much.

If we hadn't taken our time poking along looking for wildlife, then we would have missed seeing this pronghorn running in front of

and along side of us

before he wiggled under the fence to safety..

If we had taken US 64 home we couldn't have enjoyed snaking our way down the mesa

and seeing the mesa top rise as we descended.

 What a wonderful day!

Louise and Duane
