Dodging The Bullet

The Ute Park fire is still raging with "zero containment".  So far it hasn't burned any of the town of Cimarron, but it is burning the Philmont National Boy Scout Ranch.  We were fortunate today to have none of the smoke that we had yesterday.  The air stayed clear but the wind blew streaks of smoke into the upper atmosphere.  They made for a beautiful light show as the setting sun changed from yellow in the blue sky strips to orange in the smoke strips.

The sunset was gorgeous.

Fortunately, calmer winds, cooler air and rain are predicted for the area tomorrow.  That should help dampen the fire.

It has already dampened any plans we might have had for tomorrow.
