For our last trip in Washington State Brock, Duane and I decided to try our luck with the Naval Museum again (see previous blog). We were joined by Bill, another Spyder rider from the park. Leola had things to do in Chimacum, but decided to join us for lunch first.
Fortified with sandwiches and fries, Leola took her truck to do her chores, while Bill led the way we went yesterday,
with Brock bringing up the rear.
Our route went south on WA 19 (red road on right) to WA104 then right across the Hood Canal Bridge.
This draw span floating bridge, 7869' long, is the longest floating saltwater tidal basin bridge in the world, and the fourth longest floating bridge overall. A draw span bridge opens a section of the bridge flat instead pulling it up.
Across the bridge we turned left on WA3 and continued south to the Naval Undersea Museum again--open on Wednesdays. Per the latest federal mandate, we donned our masks and went in to explore.
In the lobby we read about the many ways navy personnel serve our country,
and some of the technology the navy uses.
After reading about the museum itself,
we took our own paths through the exhibits.
My tour coming up.
Louise and Duane
