Lazy Dash

Warmer weather enticed Leola to join us on another of southeast Ohio's Windy (as in curvy) Nine.  Brock took the lead, starting us on the Lazy River run

east along the Hocking River

to its confluence with the Ohio with West Virginia across the water.

We were detoured inland up a hill

through some beautiful farm country, but didn't mine a bit.

Here we started seeing some energy plant plumes.

We rejoined the Ohio in time to watch a long coal barge moving downstream.

As we continued following the river,

we grew closer to the steam plumes,

until, in Racine, we found the source.

In Pomeroy we stopped for lunch at the first fast food place we found, and discovered that we could watch barge traffic while we ate.

From Pomeroy we moved inland to join the Pomeroy Dash, another of the Nine, which took us along old US 33 north to Athens.

East of Athens we rejoined the Hocking River for the rest of the way home.

One more ride tomorrow.
