One More Time

For Mother's Day we met son Jeremy and granddaughter Allie for one last breakfast at Denny's.  Grandson Luke and daughter-in-law Jennifer opted to sleep in.

After breakfast Allie stayed home to make a Mother's Day gift for her mom.  The guys and I went to visit a couple of nearby ponds where Jeremy and his friend Jason (and their sons) were emptying several fish traps to catch about 1000 small perch which are overloading the pond.  They will use them on trot lines in the river.

Most of them are only 1 or 2 inches long.

Luke and his friend amused themselves with catching other things like this catfish,

and turtle.  Luke was petting the turtle when  I told him to give it a kiss.

The turtle was not amused.

Luke and his friend shared their foraged food with me.  They found a handful of dewberries and showed me how to milk wild honeysuckle of its nectar.

Can't beat Mother's Day in Texas!
