Upside/Downside

Nature took a day off from all that sunshine we've been enjoying.  The whole day today was gloomy and wet.  I lit the lights against the gray.

The up side was that this area was bordering on drought conditions.  The much-needed rain brought us back from the brink.

The down side was that we were just beginning to dry out the puddles

and the sloppy wet areas around the places we park the truck and the bike.

All of the muddy puddles reminded me of our trip to Alberta, Canada in 2016.  Our first stop was in Calgary to attend a couple of performances of the world-famous Calgary Stampede.  The second afternoon heavy rain set in making the arena a muddy mess.  This bulldogging (steer wrestling) winner, though covered in mud, was happy to accept his winnings.

By the time the weather cleared a couple of hours later, the arena was a swamp.  By the time the Chuckwagon Race was over, the horses, wagons,

and drivers were all covered head to toe with wet mud.

Not so bad here after all!
