Who’d A Thought?

Today we drove to the big city for some heavy duty shopping.  The Phoenix metro area is made up a lot of smaller towns that all run together and make it difficult to know where you are.  Our first stop was The Joann Store, in Avondale, but before we could get there the truck suddenly took us into the parking lot of NYPD—New York Pizza Depot.  The pizza was good, but not spectacular.  We enjoyed our lunch, then looked all around the Joann Store for Halloween beads and charms and some gray fabric.  No orange plastic faceted beads unless I wanted to buy 300 beads of all colors.  No gray fabric to match mine, but I did find the backing for my quilt.  I was very surprised to find no batting.  Since when did the Joann Store quit carrying batting?!!!.

My quest for beads and charms took me to Michaels in Peoria.  Here Duane and I searched the entire store before we found some ceramic beads that might work.  Finally Duane found a necklace and some earrings that I can take apart for charms.  In my wildest dreams I never thought that finding a few beads and charms at Halloween would be so difficult!

Next stop was a quilt shop, but it was very small and didn’t have the gray fabric I needed.  I did find a bit of maroon to finish a project, but still no batting!  I am at a loss about where to find batting—especially in a large metro area with lots of national chain stores.  I find that unbelievable!

One last stop at the Lowes for a jig saw so that Duane can cut out his Christmas ornaments, and shopping was done—for the time being.

On the way home we marveled at the beautiful sunset.  Here the clouds have golden linings.
