Surprises Part III

The last leg of our trip to Caprock Canyons State Park took us through privately owned end of Palo Duro Canyon.  That Alien seems to have recovered nicely from his bison attack.

From the overlook we could see Hamblen Drive entering the Canyon.

As we tracked the road we were surprised to see red rock that was brighter than the red rock in the State Park.  That rated a "wow!"

The road curves off into the distance.

Riverbed--dry at the moment.

Scant evidence of private property.

We were very glad that we opted to come home this way,

and sad when we hit civilization again.

During the last year we have traveled  from Texas through Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri and back to Texas.  Most of the time we were visiting relatives and friends, and visiting doctors.  Wherever we went there were lots of people and traffic.  In the Panhandle Plains of Texas we finally found a wide open space where there were very few people and where we could see nothing but beautiful scenery, and hear nothing but the blowing wind.  Beautiful!

One more day here.
