New Plan

Originally we had planned to spend a week here at the rodeo grounds in Santa Fe, then move to Taos for a week and Roton for a week.  After looking at the only route from Taos to Roton (Ro tone) and talking to a friend who knew the road, we decided to cancel our reservations at Taos.  We will spend another week here and explore Taos on a day drip.  Rt 64, the road connecting Taos and Roton is described as 20 mph curves and 6 percent grades--great for the bike but very bad for pulling the house.

Since we aren't moving for a bit longer, we decided to take a day off from touring.  Duane played pickleball all morning while I relaxed with the house all to myself.  After lunch we washed the rig. The area around here is very dry, good growing for these pesky little seed pods we call "goat heads"  they love dry weather to spread their seeds.  The pods are surrounded by several very sharp pointy heads like the horns of a goat.  They penetrate rubber soles without effort.  Our rig is parked on gravel but we backed up to a weedy area that is loaded with goat heads.  They come off on rugs and carpets, and attack bare feet.  It's best to just pick them off before you go inside.

In the evening we visited the new neighbors, a couple of Escapees who just came to town and invited us for a visit.  We had a good time chatting with them for a couple of hours before we came home to tuck in for the evening.

Time for some hiking tomorrow.
