We lived most of our lives in Ohio but had never really been in the north east. Alum Creek State Park sits just outside Delaware. Duane had fished for bass in the reservoir a couple of times, but for the most part this was the first time for both of us.
The park offers offers 212 sites, 31 of which are full hookup. The rest are 30/50 amp electric only. The buildings include the office, 5 camper cabins, showers/restrooms and a nature center.
In the same area as the nature center is this nice playground, shuffleboard court, a sand volleyball pit, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, a well-kept 9-hole mini golf course, disc golf, and amphitheater.
There is also a nice sandy beach, and a nature trail.
The sites are nice and wide, offering room for tents (and/or other temporary structures) with woods and brushy areas offering a bit of privacy. Lengths vary somewhat, but most will accommodate large rigs. We had enough room to park, but not to open our back deck. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a grate. Firewood is available at the Welcome Center.

Rates here are $40 for full hookup sites and $30 for electric only. Passport America will net you 50% off Sunday through Wednesday, with full price on Thursday,Friday, and Saturday. Ohio seniors can use their Golden Buckeye cards. No Ohio State Parks charge a day use fee.This park is really very quiet, at least for now. We’ll see what happens this weekend.
We are here because it is close to Columbus where we will be attending a wedding on Saturday.
Nothing really planned but a few chores, but who knows?
