Shoppin’

To get to the JoAnn Store, Costco, and Walmart, we drove AZ 60 south east to Surprise, Sun City, Sun City West, and Peoria, all part of the Phoenix metro area.  As we zoomed down the practically empty road, Duane was expounding on the wisdom of taking this traffic-free route over how most people from the (North Ranch) rv park access these and other “big box” stores.  They take CR 89 north east to Prescott Valley.  Duane could not understand why they would want to take that drive over the mountains if they weren’t on motorcycles.

As we got into the cities’ proper, we ran into traffic—lots of traffic.   The farther we went, the more we waited at intersections.   We aren’t very maneuverable in our big dually pickup, so of course we were always in the wrong lane and had to turn around and around to get to whatever store we wanted.

Add to the mix road construction,

and road closures, and Duane (always uncomfortable in crowds or heavy traffic) was ready to go back home.

Traffic wasn’t confined to the road.  In the JoAnn Store he got a number for the fabric-cutting counter.  I took my time with my fabric selection and completed a circuit of the store finding my other purchases before he finally got the fabric cut!  In the Costco there were numerous women strolling down the middles of the aisles, stopping to sample the nosh, and leaving their carts in the middle of everything.  In the Walmart people were everywhere and nobody was in a hurry—to shop or to clear any aisles.  Fortunately, by the time we were ready for home, traffic had cleared a bit.

We left home at a quarter to ten am and returned at 5pm.  We took 2 hours to drive the round trip.  We spent three hours selecting our purchases and two more going from store to store.

Was it worth it?  For me, yes, since all of the purchases were mine.  Duane will tell you that he is NEVER going back there again!!!

Prescott Valley, here we come!

One of my biggest pet pees is people who leave their cart in the middle of the aisle. I just hate that. I have been know to push the cart somewhere where they would have to look for it.
Now that looks like a haul I would bring home. Good shopping.
