Hiking

On our first day at our new job yesterday, we went to a  meeting and met the other volunteers--a very nice bunch of people.  After the meeting we took a hike around Tyler Lake.  That's the beach across the lake there.

In spite of the blue reflection of the sky above, the water is actually a beautiful green and wonderfully clear.

Tyler Lake State Park is in the shape of a huge bowl with the lake in the bottom.  The walk around the lake is flat along the hillside,

but we encountered a lot of evidence of erosion

on either side of the path.

We also saw the results of a violent wind storm that upended a lot of trees a couple of weeks ago.

We also saw several rustic benches, some with a view of the lake,

and lots of evidence of an active beaver population, though, sadly, no beavers.

The trail ended at the beach where several family groups practiced social distancing from each other.

We skirted the beach and picked up the trail beyond to finish back at our campground.  The lake perimeter walk is 2 1/4 miles of nice walking with enough little hills and changing scenery to make it a nice way to exercise.

Tomorrow we have a day off.
