Whew!

Ever the tourists, we had to visit Wisconsin Dells just to say we did.  With rain in the forecast, we decided to take a bike tour of the town to get the feel of this major family vacation spot.  The sign below should be the motto of the town.

There were numerous places with various amenities and price ranges to stay,

eat,

play,

and shop.

Once through town we took country roads back home, running into sprinkly showers on the way.

We were all set to stay in for the rest of the day when Duane discovered that the afternoon showers were no longer in the forecast.  Off we went to take our river boat ride.  For $32 apiece (less $6 with a coupon), we bought a two hour trip along the Wisconsin River on the boat below.   The lower deck was not popular today.

Most people opted for the open air top deck for a better view of pine-clad cliffs

and sandstone formations.

Also on our Upper Dells tour we enjoyed two scenic shore landings, one cut through the rock by wind and water,

and one along a hillside above the river.  Both short walks funneled us into a restroom/concessions area before we headed back to our boat.

At the second stop we saw more intricately carved formations like Toadstools and

Stand Rock where a trained dog leaped from the cliff face to Stand Rock and back again.

We had our choice of boat tours--the famous Duck Boats, go-fast Jet Boat Adventures, or a Sunset cruise with dinner and live music.  We were well-satisfied with our scenic tour.

Flying in the forecast for tomorrow.

Louise and Duane
