Flying

Hot sun tempered by thin clouds and a cool breeze made perfect weather for our 170 mile scenic flight through two states and two time zones today.

From our campground in Saxon, WI to our turning points  in Ontonagon and Bruce Corners, MI the scenery was much the same.

We passed a few large farms (this is the only one that had any animals) with wide open fields.

We swooped  through a few small towns, but stopped in this one.  I wanted to buy some Michigan wild rice but found the rice was grown in Canada.  Instead I found something made in Minnesota!

Mostly we passed the beautiful green trees of the Ottawa National Forest.  We were amazed to see so much  bright "spring green"  so late in the summer.

A small part of our route took us along the Lake Superior shoreline, but the trees and underbrush hid most of it.  We caught a few glimpses of the lake at the end of some driveways

or where a river spilled from the lake.

At Bergland we stopped at Antonio's Restaurant for lunch and were pleased to find some really good thin crust pizza.

One last stop for fuel at our campground and Eagle was ready to hop on his perch until tomorrow.

North or south tomorrow?
