Last Ride

Today our friends and traveling companions Brock and Leola and we went on our last ride in Arizona and our last ride together on our summer trip together.

The trip was short--about 80 miles round trip--with no purpose in mind but to enjoy the weather and the time together (our helmets are synced so that we can all talk together as we ride).

From North Ranch, AZ 89 with it's view of Vulture Peak in the distance.

connected us to US 60 which took us south east through the town of Wickenburg

From there we accessed AZ 74

which took us past a wide variety of saguaro cactus, each with a different number of arms in all different growth patterns.

When we reached the south gate to Lake Pleasant State Park, we turned around and took another lake access road

which led us north through hills covered in hundreds of saguaro--most of them straight with no or very few arms.

At the end of this road we stopped for a stretch and a water break.  We saw this cactus with arms extending only from the very top.

On the way back we were treated to a couple of good views of Lake Pleasant.  The white shoreline shows how low the lake level is.

We enjoyed the ride back along the same route.
Back in Wickenburg we stopped for one last treat together.

Packing day for us tomorrow.
