Christmas At South

When we first arrived at Saddlebag Lake Resort three weeks ago, our friends Wallace and Wanda informed us that they had gotten tickets for us to Dr. Darr's show.  We had no idea, but went with what ever our "social secretaries" said we were doing.

Tonight when we arrived at the show, we were shocked to find Wallace had traded his "uniform" t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops for dress clothes!  He actually cleans up very nicely.

His attire was in deference to the venue--South Lake Wales Church of God.  Dr. Darr is the choir director.  He is well known for changing his jacket with every song.  He started out with clear sequin poinsettias on a white jacket, switched to red with a letter to Santa,

then to black with gold poinsettias as the choir sang secular Christmas songs.

Students from the local elementary school sang I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas while hippos danced  up and down the aisles.

The spiritual part of the show started with a piano rendition of Mary, Did You Know, then the choir sang several hyms ending with Adoration, as the shepherds, Magi and townspeople brought gifts to Joseph and Mary for the infant Jesus, and  two lullabies,  One Small Child, and All Is Well.

For the finale, Dr. Darr donned a green jacket with plaid cape to lead the choir in one last Christmas song.

Outside, we told Santa we'd been good then went home happy.

Nothing planned for tomorrow.
