Still On A Hill

Des Moines was our stopping place today.

Driving east around the city we had a nice view of some of the downtown area,

including the state capitol building.

For the next 2 or 3 days (depending on the weather) our home will be parked at the Iowa State fairgrounds, one of the biggest state fairgrounds we've ever seen.  We drove down the center of the grounds,

passed the huge stadium,

then turned up the hill to the massive campground (2300 sites during fair time, about 700 off season), which is mostly empty this time of the year.   All of the 700+ are full hook-up but only 4 have 50 amp.  To snag one of these we parked on the side of a hill again, but the slope was barely noticeable side to side, and put both bottom steps are near the ground.  The daily rate here is $30 per night.

Duane's doorway view--one of the three huge restroom/shower buildings.

My front door view before the afternoon rain

and at sunset.

Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.
