BIKE RIDES, CARVING WEEK, BEAD WEEK and work

I spent the 3rd week in March at the North Ranch wood carving workshop. I was suppose to teach the basic class but no one showed up to take it so I could work on anything I wanted. I carved this vulture and then tried something new. One of the carvers at my table was carving golf balls and I had to try it.

This is the first face I carved in a golf ball.

This one I chip carved.

After carving week, it was bead week. Louise attended a class that lasted all 5 days and covered a bunch of different tecniques. This is the finale product.

A few weeks ago was Arizona Bike Week. Things were happening all over the area. I went to the park where all the vendors and bikes were. I bought the Bike Week tee shirt and spent the day looking at bikes and all the "stuff" that goes along with biking. Louise had to work so made the trip by myself.

Really cool bikes

We have made several bike trips around the area. On the last trip we thought we would try something new. Louise took pictures with our point and shoot camera from the passenger seat. I was not sure if they would turn out, but it worked great, we think. There was another biker in the park for a week or so and we went on a ride to Prescott, then to Bagdad before retuning home. This ride covered about 250 miles. We had great weather and a great time.

We think this is a really cool shot.

A stop at the dinner for lunch turned out to be the wrong time. Seems as if the owners close the dinner during "spring break" and take thier kids on a vacation. Now what do we do? Went to the market and ask if there was any other place in town to eat. We were sent to the only other place in town, a steak house. They a great lunch menu and pretty good prices.

While I was at carving louise was busy making a quilt for a friend of hers from Ohio.

The last picture is of a woodburning I did for one of the cactus gardens here in the rv park. There is a bench in the park that they wanted people to use. I was ask to make a sign to encourage people to sit a while and this is what I came up with.

Till next time

The pictures from passenger seat are super. Makes me nervous but looks great.
Great carvings Duane. I really like the golf ball idea.
Louise you are so talented...quilting, making jewelery, crocheting...what next?
Glad we are at the park and can spend a few days together. ~wheresweaver

Looks like a fun time for you guys. Great work by both of you.

Will you be going to Laughlin (4/27) for Harley Week?

We are now at Lockhart State Park. The 9 hole golf course is most if not all of my job duties. Mowing, mowing and more mowing. Its a lot different than the last workamper job and much more involved. We can play as much golf as we want. That makes a wonderful time off activity.

Say hello to the Weavers for us.
