Driving north this morning we crossed the Red River and said goodbye to Texas.
Oklahoma welcomed us with a change in state outline on state highway signs,
a road change from smooth asphalt to bumpabumpabumpa concrete. When a sign welcomed us to the Choctaw nation,
we expected and found a casino.
Fortunately we soon regained the nice smooth asphalt when we turned east on SR 70, and SR 291 north. As we drove, the sky changed from blue to streaky blue and gray,
then darker
and darker. Just past the Tote A Poke (which I thought hilarious)
we finally caught up with the rain.
Fortunately it eased to a light sprinkle when we reached our home for the next week, and
Duane was able to get set up without getting too wet. After lunch (3:00) he was able to unload the bike and get it covered before the rest of the storms took over for the afternoon.
Originally we were supposed to park next to the motorhome on the right, which would have been my view from the couch. Fortunately that site was flooded, and we ended up on the other side of those trees between those two rigs and at a right angle to them.
Much better viewing from the big window,
straight ahead,
and out the front door.
In the early evening the rain rolled away and we were treated to a beautiful sunset.
Bike riding tomorrow? Doesn't look good.
Louise and Duane
