Beautiful weather predicted today put us on the bike for a toodle around Beaver Lake.
From Prairie Creek Park past our end of Beaver Lake
we accessed AR 12 for a 80 mile ride through the Ozark Mountains.
The air smelled great with whiffs of drying hay, evergreen trees, and warm meadows.
Someone apparently wanted this old gem to survive.
Rt 12 joined Rt 23 heading north again, opening up some beautiful vista views on the way to
Eureka Springs, the twistiest hilliest town we've ever visited.
Winding through this interesting tourist town we saw interesting architecture, artsy murals, and the usual collection of tourist and mundane stores.
We stopped at only one, the local HD store for a new tshirt--a razorback hog riding a Harley.
We rode around and around this town which is spread out over a hill--top and sides--before taking a steep hill down and around several sharp curves before exiting the town
and connecting to CR 187 in the country again.
This road led us to Beaver Bridge, a one lane wooden and wire-cable suspension board bridge across the White River which flows into Beaver Lake. The boards were bolted on. Duane said it was like steering across ice.
More picturesque country riding
led us to US 62, back to (the city of) Rogers
and Park Road to home.
This area offers beautiful riding in a car and wonderful riding on a bike.
Hoping the weather holds,
Louise and Duane
