Po' Town

Continuing our northward journey today, we said goodbye to Illinois by paying $13.65 in tolls.

Wisconsin welcomed us with lots of construction.

Our new home for the next 5 days is in the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, on the western edge of Milwaukee.  The rv park office takes up the front of this building, with the men's showers in back and the women's on the other side.

Between the office and men's showers is this large 6/6 laundry with nice folding table.

On three sides of the building is the main rv parking with water, electric, and quite a few sewer hook-ups.  Unfortunately, we were unable to get a site here.

Across the street is a large park and ride parking lot.

Next to it is where we ended up.  We have water and 50 amp electric.  There are very few rv's here.  Most of our neighbors seem to live (more or less long term) in those semi's in tiny little rooms.  Our site is one of four in the middle of this lot.  On the other side of the back fence is I 894.  We are a little nervous sitting here.  Our neighbors are numerous, close and very active.  We're used to a bit more space around us and keep checking on the truck when we hear a vehicle door close.

After talking to a person in the office we discovered why we ended up here.  Tomorrow is the start of Milwaukee's Summerfest, a music festival that hosts over 800 bands and 900,000 fans over 11 days.  The park and ride lot across from the office offers shuttle service to the venue grounds.

Who knew?  Not us!
