Goodbye Oklahoma, hello Texas where we started our round trip back in July. From Claremore, OK we accessed US69 and took it all the way to Leonard, TX. The road through OK was four-lane all of the way. It was awfully bumpy in some places and our new air-cushioned hitch worked really well.
Ok in the forefront, Tx there the distance.
US69 in Texas
Once we were set up and ate a late lunch, we drove the truck (way too hot for the bike) about 6 miles to Trenton to visit Duane Jr and family. We played with the twins while Jr worked, Brandey did chores and Coy (2) and Alyssa (3) napped. We taught the girls tricks with knots
and rooted for our partners in a Goldfish eating contest.
We played with the little ones when they woke up.
Later, with Brandey conducting a class at the gym, the rest of us went to the girls’ riding lesson.
Bringing the horses from the field.
Alyssa rode the pony a while before she went to play with her friend who lives on the property. Coy thought the pink helmet a small price to pay for a ride.
The girls’ lesson today was to practice the barrel and pole patterns.
The shorter the time, the better.
After the lesson, we reunited with Brandey for family supper.
Interesting things we saw today:
utilizing the roadsides for hay
full-sized trail drive sculpture
skunk outside the corral where the girls had their lesson. The interesting thing about this is that it sprayed the dogs. Everyone was gagging except Duane, who can’t smell a thing!
We will be visiting this family for a week, but will be on our own in the mornings.
Tomorrow? Who knows!
