One Year Later

Last March when we visited son Jeremy's new pond, it was a work in progress.
Here the pond is just full with the brown streak showing where the springs haven't let the silt settle yet.  Later last year the oil company had a salt pipe burst and contaminate the pond, killing all his bait fish and several trees.  The pond had to be completely drained, and the contaminated dirt removed, the new bottom dirt tested and found free of contaminates, then allowed to refill.

This year the pond is a beautiful green, though still not totally clear from last year's mishap and recent rains, but the grass is growing very well.

Last year the dam was narrow and muddy.

This year it's wider and grassy.

Last year on the left of the dam where the creek emptied into the river.

This year after several large chunks of concrete were covered by several hundred dump truck loads of dirt and seeded with grass.

Last year the overflow spillway

This year the new spillway, awaiting a footbridge across the trusses.

Lots of good work done here!
