Ft. Chiswell

Our home for this week is the very nice park of Fort Chiswell, named for the historical frontier fort built in 1758 as an outpost during the French and Indian War.
The park sits on US 52 (on the right)  about a mile west of I77/81.

The 92 sites in this Good Sam park are big-rig friendly--comfortably wide and long with grassy areas between, full hookups and mostly pull-thrus.

There are two buildings on the property.  The small office also houses

a small library/dvd exchange

and a nice-sized store including a selection of locally made wines.

The other building houses a picnic pavilion

with access on the left to this nice little game/tv room

and next to it a  4/4 laundry room with a large folding table.

The pool is heated

and there are two nice ponds with plenty of dog-walking space.

This morning rain blown in by a cold front kept us inside working on Christmas projects.  I'm now making a movie throw, and Duane got a start on this year's grandkids Christmas ornaments.

Tomorrow, we'll fly the Eagle--if it's warm enough!
