At last Duane was able to ride the bike in Minnesota again. He rode from the repair shop back into the rig.
From Duluth we rode across the end of Lake Superior into Wisconsin then picked up US 2 headed east for the rest of our 135 mile trip. While the road angled east, the southern coast of Lake Superior angled north to the Apostle Islands
then dropped back down to the road at Ashland. For the rest of the trip (30 miles) the coast remained within 5 miles of the road, but separated by trees and undergrowth so that we couldn't see it.
At one point we encountered road work. A crew of three women were tarring cracks and covering them with something that looked like toilet paper. It looked really messy, but no one was getting tar on their vehicles.
Our new home for the next week is the Frontier Bar & Campground. The fuel station is also the camp office, camp store, and bar which serves pizza.
To the left is the building with restrooms/showers--one of each on each side, and the 2/2 laundry. The play area and basketball court are there too. Behind the office are the horseshoe pits.
The campground is small with only 40 rv sites and 6 tent sites, but all of the sites are pull thru with 35 full hookups with 30 or 50 amp and only 15 w/e. Most of the sites are wooded,
but ten of them are not. These ten are very large. We have plenty of room left over front and back. Behind us is a corn field. Through my other living room window I have a nice view of the horseshoe pits and the woods beyond.
There are no tourist attractions here. We are here to ride.
First ride tomorrow.
Louise and Duane
