Going Nowhere

Our bike ride today had no destination and no turnaround point.  We simply wanted to see what was inland in this part of Wisconsin.  We started south on CR 169, the same road we took a couple of days ago in the truck to check out Copper Falls State Park

where we saw the little fawn, (see Half The Plan blog).

This is also the road that led us to explore Potato River Falls--upper

and lower

and where we saw this beautiful garter snake (see Still Sloooooow blog).

169 led us to CR 13, then we turned east on CR 182 and north on US 51.  On that part of the loop we past a few scattered large farms, went through some very nice towns, saw lots of water in small lakes, creeks and rivers,

and lots of different shades of green in the Chiquamegon National Forest.

US 82 took us back to US 2 where we picked up CR 122, a short loop road that took us past Superior Falls (which we visited yesterday

and the Lake Superior shore where we did a little rockhounding

and this little frog  (see Still Slooooow blog).

We also passed Little Girl's Point where  a couple of days ago we saw this gull flying above the water (see Half The Plan blog) before we accessed US2 for home.

On our ride today Duane would have enjoyed a little more curve and roll to the mostly flat roads, a few more animals than the two cranes and two deer we saw, and a little more scenery than miles and miles of trees.  I enjoyed  just riding along smelling the wonder fresh air,  especially in the national forest where it smelled sweetly of spruce and pine.

Moving day tomorrow.
