Perspective

By April the Tyler area of Texas has experienced 1/2 its average annual rainfall.  We've seen the results of this most dramatically at our son Jeremy's property along the Sabine River where he is building his new pond and fishing shack.  Here are pictures taken in March are compared with those taken yesterday.

The pond, beautifully green

after the rain is brown and muddy.  The brush pile on the left above is under water now.

Viewing the new dam, the water on the left several feed below

and this spillway drainage into the river on the right

which is covered now.  Jeremy 1/2 way joked that the river was keeping his dam from washing out.

View from the porch of the fishing shack with steps down to the river's edge on the left, the outdoor gathering place in front and the road on the left leading to the boat ramp between the two trees.

The same view now.

This view from the porch show the river up against and about 4" below the edge of the concrete apron below.  Jeremy is confident the river will never reach the top, but with more rain on the way, we'll see.

Meanwhile, we're drying out again.
