Touring the Valley Camp Ship Museum yesterday revealed the mundane activities aboard ship when it was active.
Crew quarters were pretty simple. The captain and chief crew members enjoyed larger quarters with a desk and toilet (regular crew shared a toilet).
Kitchen
Crew mess (captain/guest table was nicer) Crew was able to eat 24/7, whatever they wanted and how much they wanted.
Laundry facilities
Interesting how this got its name
Some interesting displays included the lifeboat from the Edmund Fitzgerald which was found 12 miles from where the ship sank with only one lifejacket. There were many tragic shipwrecks in this area but only one was immortalized in a popular song.
The reason the canal was dug through Sault Ste. Marie making part of the town site an island.
Makes sense
