Hidden Gem

Our Michigander friends Brock and Leola led the way this morning on our 180 mile move south on M37, M115, and US131 from Traverse City

through,Grand Rapids

to this beautiful, quiet little county park just north of Kalamazoo, Markin Glen County Park Campground which will be our home for the next week.

The campground is adjacent to the public access park with its nice little fishing/swimming lake, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and small play area at the beach.

The park boasts a wide paved hike/bike trail that connects to the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail.
The park trail circles the pond and offers access to the footbridge for fishing.

The campground has its own play area, and the building on the left houses restrooms and one large shower with dry dressing area for each gender.

The campground is small--only 32 sites including one for the camp host and two handicapped accessible sites.   The sites themselves are spacious with plenty of room for big rigs and extra vehicles.  20 of the sites are pull-thrus.  All sites include full hook ups with 50 amp service for the bargain price of $30 per night.
A large patch of grass separates the hike/bike path from our rig on the left.

View of the swimming beach from the footpath.

view of our rig (between trees on the left) from the footbridge.

For the next week we'll be riding bikes around Kalamazoo, Brock and Leola's home town.

Next--a meander across the Indiana border and round about.
