Continuing our visit to the village of Buffalo Gap, from the doctor's office we went next door to the barber shop
where a tin bath tub awaits customers who need more than a shave.
Next came the railroad station/telegraph office. The door on the left
leads to one of two waiting rooms--this one for people of color,
this one for Anglos.
Behind the rr station sits the blacksmith shop which immediately sucked Duane into its depths.
The west side of Buffalo Gap in 1910
looks like this today. First is (a modern building being used for) the school house,
a filling station
bank
and post office
where we could collect our mail
and make a phone call.
A progression of travel wagons includes a chuck wagon,
Ford wagon
and side by side.
The print shop stands behind the chapel and completes our tour of historical Buffalo Gap.
It has everything anyone would need. Who wouldn't want to live there?
Louise and Duane
