With 500 miles to go today we were up early, driving through a smattering of rain when the check engine light came on with a warning about engine emissions and a speed slowdown (to 65) in 60 miles. We drove the 50 miles to Chattanooga with our fingers crossed that we would find a GMC dealer service center that would have time for us. We arrived at Integrity Buick GMC Cadillac at 7:45, just minutes after they opened. After an hour service consultant Matthew Lockhart informed us that we had a bad sensor, but that there was one in stock and they had time to get us fixed! A few minutes later we authorized them to replace the dirty air filter also. We spent the rest of our time chatting with a couple of fellow Family Motor Coach members about our collective adventures.
After just 1 1/2 hours and $70 (for the filter, the other work was still under warranty), we were rolling north on I75 enjoying the ride through the beautiful mountains of Tennessee.
The further north we went the sky became bluer and the traffic thinner.
We slowed a bit through Cincinnati,
and Dayton OH,
and made a stop for supper before finally arriving in the cozy kitchen of daughter Rachel, son-in-law Benji, and grandkids Maddy, Simon, and Judah.
The rest of the evening we hung out, snacked, played games, and caught up on the news.
After 1,070 miles, and 2 1/2 days of rain, the happy smiles, and warm welcoming hugs we received made the entire trip more than worth it. The rest of the week with the family is icing on the cake.
Next up, Christmas Eve fun with Duane's family.
Louise and Duane
