Tonight's entertainment at Saddlebag Lake Resort (Lake Wales, FL) was the Kitchen Band Christmas Show.
Band leader Jean did a good job with her dish scrubber baton
conducting the band through a variety of secular and spiritual numbers.
In addition to kazoos, the band boasted a washtub base (far left)
a washboard, and tin can drums.
In addition to kazoo songs, the band performed several skits including the Florida 12 Days of Christmas which featured 11 blowing hurricanes, 7 squawking sand-hill cranes, three NASA launches, and a seagull in a palm tree.
Our friend Wanda was a very classy Christmas tree for Oh, Christmas Tree and Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree. I laughed til I cried!
Jean wrote and performed a silly song about Santa losing weight through several programs including Get Slim Faster. At the end Santa threw the carrots and took off with the plate of cookies.
Several people sang songs and one guy played bagpipes!
This very fun hour--which managed to be both irreverent and reverent, ended with, of course, We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
The band received a much deserved standing ovation.
