Continuing our ride along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive we got our first and closer views of Mule Ears
and this area.
Our last stop before our turn-around point.
Sorry about the glare. Most of the original buildings are still in use.
After the Army left the barracks were turned into a general store.
Today it is a souvenir/snack stop. The other end of the building is the visitor’s center with more information and photographs and the National Parks Passport stamp.
Left—housing, right—BB Ranger station.
CG sneaking around.
Ruins of an original homestead. The Rio Grande meanders along the level plain between the base of this hill and the mountain ridge in the distance. For many years this area was planted in cotton.
Don’t worry, Wall Lovers, part of the border wall is already in place!
Not far from our destination—Santa Elena Canyon.
Next time, we end our tour of Big Bend.
