Northwest Again

The Eagle screamed his boredom.  We mounted up and flew two hours northwest to Trenton to visit son Duane Jr and family, who are making major improvements on their rural property.

When we visited last month, these metal bars were laying on the grass.

Now the cattle guards are in place at the gate

and across the driveway.

They'd also made a start on their new barn by pouring a concrete pad for the tack/work room.  Work on the barn is scheduled to begin this week, which means that it should be complete when we visit again next month.

We arrived in time to view the improvements before driving to a rodeo grounds in nearby Blue Ridge to watch the grandkids ride their horses in various contests.

We arrived in plenty of time to help get the horses saddled and booted.

While Emma, Alyssa, and Ava warmed up the horses,

the rest of us sat in the bleachers.  Coy, aka Mr. Cool Cowboy, sat with us for a while.  We were up near the top so that we short people could see over the fence.

Brandey, (no hat) sat at the bottom to keep an eye on Will (right).  Duane Jr was helping at the gate.

Next--the contests.
