Coolness

Only "cool" things were allowed today, Duane's 72nd birthday.
After lounging around in  pj's all  morning, we finally put on clothes for a short bike ride to the Jefferson Diner.   The only vegetable allowed was French Fries to go with his patty melt.

The partly cloudy skies keep the temperature perfectly cool for a 15 mile ride exploring wine country along the Grand River Valley.  We found all kinds of grapes in all stages of growth.

We stopped at this winery just because it looked cool.
South River Vineyard grows old world vines suited for cooler climates.  The winery is fortunate to have an ideal growing site proven to be one of the warmest farms in the neighborhood, which keeps the tender vines from damage by cold winters.

The old Victorian chapel was first erected in Portage County, OH in 1892.  It was abandoned in the 70's, and sat vacant for 30 years before the winery began dismantling the building nail-by-nail and moved the pieces 50 miles to rebuilt it in Harpersfield Township.

The tasting room still retains the chestnut pews, stained glass windows and vaulted ceiling (which helps keep the room comfortably cool).  On the back a large deck holds tables and chairs.
After selecting a bottle of their blush,

we continued our ride by randomly taking whatever road looked interesting.

We crossed and recrossed the Grand River before
ending up back where we started.

A really cool birthday for a really cool guy.
