Sunshine and blue skies covered us all the way south on I25. On our way to Colorado Springs we were treated to one last view of the Never Summer Mountains.
Two hours and 100 miles later we escaped the heavy traffic through Denver and arrived unscathed at the Colorado Springs Elks Club. We are here to explore this area of Colorado in general and the Pikes Peak area in particular.
While we are happy to trade the gritty dust of the Boulder Fairgrounds for "clean" asphalt, here we have no place to shower or use the restroom. That means that we have to be super conservative with our water usage or drive to the dump station every three or four days.
This place does have a better view--at least out the window I use most. Other plusses include a nightly fee of $20, $5 less than the fairgrounds, and there is no traffic noise.
View out the back--the other half of the rv parking area. I find this strangely comforting. I think that if a stranger was walking around back there, a lot of people would notice.
After we were set up Duane found a place to buy a stand for our portable satellite dish. We won't use it here. The dish is working quite well on the roof.
Sight seeing is on the agenda for tomorrow.
Louise and Duane
