The High Road To Taos was our ride today.
Most of the scenery was dotted with shrubs and low trees in the lower altitudes,
with occasional rock outcroppings.
The route was easy to find and easy to follow. From Santa Fe NM 285 took us north, then we just followed the signs.
Unfortunately, just after we started on the high road, my camera went on the blink. Because of this, we changed our original plan of riding the "Enchanted Circle" into a tour of Taos and back.
We stopped at scenic overlooks to use Duane's phone for the rest of the shots.
Climbing to 8700 ft took us up where the trees grow. Here are mostly pines and bright yellow aspens.
In Taos we didn't park and walk around. We will do that when ride the Enchanted Circle. We rode around town for a while then took CR 64 west. We stopped along the road and walked halfway across the bridge to view the river.
It was a looooooooong way down.
This is a sideways picture of the bridge that Duane downloaded from the internet. (I suspect it is color enhanced.)
Just after the bridge we turned onto CR 115 which connected to 570 and then back to 68. Unfortunately 570 went around steep curves and was not paved, and we won't take the bike on unpaved roads if we can help it. We back tracked to 64 which took us back to 285 and home.
No rides planned for a couple of days.
Louise and Duane
