The nice warm sunny weather took a hike today. A thick cloud cover kept threatening rain. The temperature peaked in the mid 50’s. We donned our sweatshirts for a brisk walk this morning.
On our last visit we set up at the bottom of the hill along the Colorado River. This time we are on top of the hill and walked down that road on the left to view the flood damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.
If we had turned left on the main road we could have accessed the activity building/laundry/office, the pickleball, basketball, basketball, and shuffleboard courts, and the swimming pool and hot tub. We turned right and walked past the nice 18 hole mini golf course and a large gathering area with small grills around the perimeter and a bonfire in the middle.
At the bottom of the hill is a large circular road with sites on both sides. In the middle is a large green space with one building for showers/bathrooms.
The river is to the left. When the water rose (about 25’) it covered this whole area.
Several sites were permanently damaged.
A couple of large trees were lost too.
The boat ramp was damaged.
One other very wrong thing we found—Man Cave with a trendy little smart car? Really?
Deer are abundant here and roam the park freely. They are comfortable around humans, but will run if approached.

We managed to stay warm on our walk, but ran heaters the rest of the day. Since we are here for two weeks, we each set up our craft area and started working on Christmas gifts. Duane is carving this year’s tree ornament for the grandkids, while I am sewing fabric surprises.
The cool weather may keep us in tomorrow as well.

I am way behind in my reading. Paul said it dropped 30 degrees today in Houston. It will be in the 20's here in Ohio. Enjoy the indoor time.
