Since we have decided to spend the winter in Texas this year, we plan to bounce between Thousand Trails parks which are not too far apart. Today we once again passed the drowned car cemetery, which is just about full now. (This is one of 4 or 5 in the area around Houston.) We will be returning here after two weeks.
Meanwhile we will be spending the next two weeks in Hill Country at Medina Lake (Ohio people—in Texas this is pronounced Medeena).
Most of the trip was flat and straight until we got around San Antonio. The last part of the trip was roller coaster county roads.
When we arrived at the park, we decided to take the same site that we had in February. We were greeted by this 4 point buck.
After we got set up we headed for the nearest town, which happened to be Bandera.
Their pride of heritage is shown all over town in murals
sculptures.
Our goal was this little place—Cowboy Capital Pizza.
Here we were greeted by free range chickens guarded by this big fella.
Inside there are three tables and the kitchen where you can get salads, pizza, and sandwiches, canned soda and iced tea.
The pizza was pretty good (a little too much oregano for me). After we ate, Duane made a phone call while I browsed a nice quilt shop that we passed. I found a storybook panel to sew for a Christmas gift (as if I don’t have enough to sew!)
Back home this doe was our welcoming committee.
