Quintana Beach County Park has a lot going for it. It is a well-kept, quiet, reasonably-priced place to stay for 2 weeks. In addition to the nice sized level gravel sites with concrete patios, it has a couple of nice playgrounds, plenty of picnic areas, views of the ocean, and a nice beach, fishing pier, and bird sanctuary within a short walking distance. It is a short drive to Freeport where you can shop and do tourist stuff, and Surfside where you can really enjoy the beach.
It is also surrounded by marsh land which breeds lots of mosquitos and, sometimes it is very humid outside.
The beach attached to the park is open only for sunbathing, walking, kite flying, and wading. No metal detecting, shelling, collecting of driftwood or fires are allowed. The pier down the beach the pier is open for fishing.
In spite of its drawbacks, we think this park is a real gem and worth a visit.
Unfortunately, we probably won’t return here again. We stayed here because it was conveniently located near our son Jesse, but he is selling his house and relocating to Lake Jackson. From now on we will be staying somewhere closer to Lake Jackson.
One last day.
Louise and Duane
