With daytime temperatures forecast near 90 for the next several days, we have found it expedient to walk earlier than usual to beat the heat. This puts the sun in an different position and makes it hard to identify the local fence and wire sitters. In other words, we couldn't identify these birds.
We know cattle egrets when we see them, though. These birds hang around grazing cattle eating insects that the cattle stir up.
