Friday offered us perfect weather for flying the Eagle. We took US 69 from Tyler north west to Greenville (TX).
As we went north the trees were replaced by large grassy pastures
of sheep, goats,
or cattle.
In Greenville we stopped at Red Lobster for lunch with long-time friends Brock and Leola who were passing through our area.
After a couple of hours of pleasurable food and conversation, we said goodbye and started home. As we retraced our route south east on US69, we discovered that we could store our buffalo in Alba ( a big problem solved), and
that Emory is home to a giant red guitar.
In Emory, just for fun we turned east on County Road 515. This road took us across the west fork of Lake Fork.
From there we picked up CR 154 which took us south across the east fork of the lake.
At Quitman we stopped for gas and found this sign. What more do you need?
After fueling up we changed course again. This time we headed north on State Highway 37 so that we could ride FM 14 from start to finish. We really like riding the bike on this road. It has very little traffic, and it has enough curves,
dips,
hills,
and changing scenery to make a fun ride.
FM 14 dropped us right back into Tyler right by our rv park. When we got back we discovered that other traveling friends were staying just around the corner from us. We visited briefly with them in the evening and made plans for dinner tomorrow. The beautiful scenery, perfect weather, and visits with friends made a wonderful day.
Tomorrow, more friends, food, and fun.
Louise and Duane
