Friday we loaded up and headed east. Our destination was the Red Barn RV park just south of Bangor, Maine. We left Vermont in our rear view mirror, drove across the top of New Hampshire into the state of Maine.
The curves and hills keep coming.
We passed Paul Bunyan and Babe
and trees
and more trees
After driving 208 miles taking 5 hours because of all the small towns we passed through and getting set up we relaxed for the rest of the day.
Saturday we headed into Bangor for a look around.
Our main destination was the home of Steven King. Louise is a big fan and was looking forward to seeing his house.
I was more interested in seeing the iron fence and gates.
This gate topper was hard to get a good picture without climbing on the fence, which I thought better of. It is a really cool 3 headed dragon.
This is a walk trough gate with the K
Both sides of the gate was top with these bats, also really cool. As cool as some of the things were I was a little disappointed in the fact that the fence was arc welded together instead of forge welded.
Leaving the King house we drove around town for a while checking things out til time for Louise to go to church. Then it was home for the evening. Tomorrow, weather permitting, we plan on going to Fort Knox where they are having Civil War reenactment. This is not the Fort Knox where all the gold is. It is listed as America's first fort.
Til next time
Duane and Louise
